I'm exchanging city for country life and one friend for another. Switching gears , changing paddles midstream, call it what you will, isn't always easy. I call these hours The Transition Time. It encompasses a lot in that one title. It means leaving behind one way and taking on another, familiar but not. It means making the split from being with George to being without George. My life is often made up of With and Without George. It never gets easier. Pace, rhythm, direction - all change now. It takes patience.
We found a place to settle in Cafe Barfo... I mean Nero.... till he took off to go through security.
Now it's just me. I had about 3 hours to kill. I stayed in T5 till I saw his plane had departed, then I went to T3.

Getting around London and really anywhere in England is user friendly and efficient. I could take this high speed train, gliding on soft rails and very clean, between terminals or in 15 minutes be in London. Why can't we do this? All set... on to LEWES!
Lewes is a little over an hour from Heathrow. London was left behind as I headed to the open rolling green of the South Downs. George had normally done the driving and I navigated but it's pretty easy to do if you have a small car. Always get a small car! And an automatic because dealing with the left handed shift is a complication.
Lewes has a Bill's Restaurant, so it was fitting to honor the first part of my trip and my wonderful partner and companion, George, with dinner there and a Hedgerow Fizz - Prosecco, Elderflower Cordial and a frozen blackberry. Bon Voyage, George!
